Over Placement Policy
Intent
To ensure that Alberta Hatching Egg Producers receive the correct number of annualized breeders when the actual number of breeders placed is in excess of the Board Ordered number for that placement .
Policy Features
- Producers granted excess breeder pullets beyond the Board ordered number will have the excess deducted along with a one time early placement debit calculation (see Policy Appendix)
- Excess and early debit will be based on the actual excess and will not be affected by allocation changes.
- The following correction options will apply:
- The producer may request that the excess plus penalty number of birds be deducted over the next three scheduled placements.
- If a producer chooses not to deduct birds from future placements, the excess number must be covered with a lease within 26 weeks of the actual placement date in which excess birds were placed. If a lease is not obtained within this time frame, the Board will reduce the next placement number by an amount equivalent to the excess plus a 26 week early placement debit.
- A producer may choose to cull the excess birds prior to transfer into the lay barn. Verification must be provided to the Board Office.
Policy Requirements
- When the board confirms the occurrence of an over placement, the Over Placement Policy will come into effect.
- An Over Placement Notification will be sent to the producer within one month of the board’s notification.
