Broiler Breeder Placement Order Policy
Intent
To ensure that the Alberta Hatching Egg Producers Board, Alberta hatching egg producers and the breeder supply hatcheries are aware of and approve of the number of female breeders scheduled for the next placement on a breeder farm in Alberta.
Policy Features
- The AHEP board will complete a Broiler Breeder Placement Order form approximately six weeks prior to a scheduled placement. This form will be signed and faxed to the supplying hatchery for approval. The hatchery is to sign and return the form, via fax, to the AHEP board by the date indicated on the form. Once received at the board office, the form will be forwarded, via fax, to the producer. If the producer does not contact the board office by the date indicated on their Placement Order, the ‘Placement #’ will become the Board Ordered Number (BON) for that placement. The 4% ‘frees’ will be added to the BON to arrive at the total number of females to arrive on the farm. Changes to the BON prior to the placement date can only be made with an amended Broiler Breeder Placement Order form that has been signed for approval by both the supplying hatchery and the board.
- The Scheduled Placement Week is the week (Sunday through Saturday) that includes the Wednesday placement date assigned by the AHEP board.
- The % allocation on the form refers to the allocation at the time of the scheduled placement.
- Policy adjustments will be those that apply to the placement in question only.
- Barn capacity is based on the provision of 1.8 square feet per breeder hen.
- The current Lease Policy applies to any number of birds available to lease out or in.
